Discussion Forum „Size Matters – Extra-Large Projects in the Ancient World“
The Research Group B-2 of the Excellence Cluster 264 TOPOI is pleased to announce a Call for Discussants for a discussion forum to be held in Berlin from October 9th till October 11th 2017.
As the end of the research project „Monumentalized Knowledge“, which deals with extra-large building projects in the Ancient World, nears, the Research Group will host a discussion forum aimed at considering our results from a wide range of perspectives. We are interested especially in inviting junior researchers who have been considering the following themes:
Societies with and/or without extra-large building projects or with or without built monumentality
Megalomania and urbanization
Large Technical Systems
Energetics of construction
Complex but small architecture
“making monumentality visible” reconstruction of the construction and built environment
If interested, please send an abstract of 200–250 words and the completed application form by June 15th 2017 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions can be sent either in English or German.
The discussion forum will be held in English.
Travel expenses and accommodation will be paid for by TOPOI.
