What is Early Latin? - 10-11/07/2018, St Andrews (Scotland)

The goal of the conference is to offer a fresh investigation of early Latin, from a variety of linguistic perspectives. The intention in particular is to establish which features can be properly labelled as 'earlyLatin' and which instead have wrongly been associated with it (and for what reasons and purposes). Later varieties of Latin will have a place in the conference, but in a restricted sense: in the classical period (and beyond) there were some writers who tried to imitate or reproduce in places the Latin of an earlier age, and there were also interpreters of early Latin, who commented on some of its features.
