With this first circular we would like to inform you that the 7th International Conference on Late Roman Coarse Wares, Cooking Wares and Amphorae in the Mediterranean: Archaeology and Archaeometry (LRCW 7) will be held in València, Riba-roja de Túria and Alacant (15-19 October 2019). The conference will be organized by the Municipality of València (Secció d’Investigació Arqueològica Municipal de València), the Municipality of Riba-roja de Túria (III Jornades d’Arqueologia de Riba-roja), the Institut Català d’Arqueologia Clàssica (ICAC), and the Equip de Recerca Arqueològica i Arqueomètrica de la Universitat de Barcelona (ERAAUB), in collaboration with the Museu d’Arqueologia (MARQ) of Alacant, the Museu de Prehistòria of València, and the Universitat de Teologia of València.

SESSIONS 
Every session will be introduced by a 30-minutes-long paper presented by a guest speaker, followed by oral presentations. There will be a poster(s) session(s) and a workshop displaying pottery from late Roman contexts. The conference is planned in five sessions following these themes: 
 
 The Western Mediterranean

 The Eastern Mediterranean

 Mediterranean Islands in the stream

 Late Roman Pottery in Spain

 Special session: The problem of the 8th century 
 
Those interested in participating in the conference can communicate with the organizing committee of the LRCW 7 to the following address: Lrcw7conference@gmail.com. 
 
The LRCW 7 conference comprises oral and poster presentations. Oral presentations should not exceed 15 minutes. The languages of the conference are Spanish, Italian, French and English. We recommend that power-point presentation be written in a different language to that of the oral presentation, preferably in English. Poster dimensions should not exceed 100 (tall) x 70 cm (wide). Unaccompanied posters will not be accepted. We recommend the poster to be written in English. 

 


ABSTRACT SUBMISSION  
Abstracts of 300 words maximum should be submitted to the conference address (lrcw7conference@gmail.com) in Word format including: title (in capitals), name(s), institution, email address of the author(s), and 5 key-words. Specify oral communication or poster. The abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee. The deadline for abstract submission is 30 April 2019. 
 
During the conference the participants will have the opportunity to visit several archaeological sites, and examine Late Roman pottery from different parts of the Mediterranean. Further activities are planned, offering the delegates the opportunity to become acquainted with the pottery production of the Late Roman period and Late Antiquity in Hispania.

The deadline for registration and payment of fees will be 30 April 2019.
