The Department of Classical and Semitic Philology and the Department of the Slovak Language of the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava, are pleased to invite you to the conference Greek – Latin – Slavic: Aspects of Linguistics and Grammatography. Contributions from the fields of Classical Philology, Indo-European Linguistics, and Slovak and Slavic diachronic linguistics are welcome.


The major topics of the conference are:


- Phonetics and phonology, morphology, vocabulary, syntax, semantics and history of grammar, in Latin, Greek and Slavic languages


- Connection between the Latin grammatical tradition embodied in the Artes grammaticae and the traditions of vernacular grammars (until the 19th century)


- Testing the theoretical background of ancient grammars against the updated models of nowadays’ general linguistics


The conference will take place from 17 to 19 June 2020 at the Faculty of Arts, Comenius University in Bratislava.


The languages of the conference are English, German, French, Italian, and Slavic languages.


The deadline for the submission of the abstracts (cca. 150 words) and 4-5 keywords is 31 March, at the following email addresses:
